Legato

AI hearing glasses that embed OTC hearing-aid technology in the arms of eyewear frames
Legato (legal name Legato Audio, Inc.) is a Boston-based hearing-technology company founded in late 2024 by Mehul Trivedi, who led the creation of Bose Frames and later smart-eyewear efforts at EssilorLuxottica, and Steve Romine, who ran Bose's hearing-aids division and was COO of hearing-care company Audicus. It emerged from stealth on August 26, 2026 with $12 million from Neotribe Ventures, Listen and Village Global and previewed Legato Frames, which it calls the first AI hearing glasses: patented hearing-assistance hardware embedded in the arms of eyewear, with an AI system that distinguishes voices from background noise and amplifies only the voices, and a dual-speaker design that directs sound to the wearer while cancelling leakage. The glasses target mild-to-moderate hearing loss, are meant to be worn all day without earbuds, and are expected to be sold as over-the-counter hearing aids online and through eye-care clinics starting fall 2026, often eligible for vision insurance. The company holds four granted patents with more than 20 pending. Valuation was not disclosed.
