Skyroot Aerospace is a Hyderabad-based private launch company founded in 2018 by former ISRO engineers Pawan Kumar Chandana (CEO) and Naga Bharath Daka. In November 2022 it flew Vikram-S, India's first privately built rocket, and on July 18, 2026 it launched Vikram-1, India's first privately developed orbital launch vehicle, designed for dedicated small-satellite missions. In May 2026 it raised nearly $60M co-led by Sherpalo Ventures and GIC at a $1.1B valuation, becoming India's first space-tech unicorn with $160M raised in total. It is developing Vikram-2, a 1-tonne class vehicle with a cryogenic stage. As of September 2026 it is reported to be in advanced talks for a $280-300M round at up to $3B.
