Kontext (Kontext Security) is a Munich-based AI security startup whose runtime enforcement platform sits between AI agents and the systems and tools they use. It checks every requested action against security policy, weighing the agent's identity, the target resource, the action and the task the agent was given. Teams can start in an observe mode to see how policies would apply, then switch on enforcement to block unauthorised actions before they run, with every decision logged for audit. It works today with coding agents such as Claude Code and OpenAI Codex; individual developers use it free and team plans start at $149 a month. On 24 September 2026 it announced $4M led by 42CAP, with a16z CSX and High-Tech Gründerfonds participating. It was co-founded by CEO Jens Ernstberger, who holds a TU Munich doctorate in cryptography and computer security, and Michel Osswald.
