Harell Data is a Bellevue, WA company building what it describes as a next-generation cloud platform around the premise that the teams who generate breakthrough training data should share in the value that data creates. It gives machine-learning teams access to the proprietary datasets needed to attack problems in computational medicine, and — unlike a conventional cloud provider — pays a share of the resulting compute revenue back to the research groups that produced the data. The company is the response of founder and CEO Harlan Robins to a gap he saw from the other side: organizations that spend heavily generating high-quality research data have had no good way to commercialize it, and are rarely compensated when AI developers train commercial tools on it. Robins spent years as co-founder and chief scientific officer of Adaptive Biotechnologies, where he helped build large-scale datasets for decoding the human immune system. The name combines his own with that of his eight-year-old son, Ellis. On 2026-08-17 GeekWire reported a $15M raise from Fuse, Cercano Management and unnamed others. The team was about 11 people at that point, split between Bellevue and Palo Alto, and includes CTO Rakesh Nair, head of operations Saray Covey and head of sales Analise Polsky.
