MARKET PULSE

Risk-on bid into the open as S&P futures push toward 7,400 for the first time, propelled by an Iran ceasefire still holding overnight and a constructive setup into April Nonfarm Payrolls at 08:30 ET. Yields are easing across the curve while the dollar softens — a classic Goldilocks pre-print configuration. The regime read remains RISK-ON / LOW-VOL with VIX sub-17 and credit spreads contained, but positioning is stretched into a binary macro event. Tape leadership stays in semis (AMD halo) and AI infrastructure; defensives lag.

TRADING IMPLICATIONS — QUANTLOGIX UNIVERSE

  1. NFP is the day's volatility crucible. Consensus 62K vs. 178K prior — a hot print (>120K) reignites yield bid and pressures duration / mega-cap growth; a cool print (<40K) accelerates rate-cut pricing and lifts small caps. Pre-print sizing: cut beta exposure to half and use /ES 7,375 / /NQ 28,750 as systematic stop levels.
  2. Lean into the AMD/AI capex halo via SMH longs paired short XHB (durables guide cuts cluster: WHR, PTON read-through). Monitor NVDA reaction to the Corning fab announcement — confirmation of the silicon-photonics narrative would extend semi leadership into May-June OPEX.
  3. Geopolitical tail bid stays cheap. With VIX 16.95 and Iran ceasefire still binary, June VIX 22 calls or SPY 720P / 700P put spreads remain a high-convexity hedge. Energy (XLE) is asymmetric long should the Strait of Hormuz situation reopen; size 1.0–1.5% of NAV maximum.
